What We Do
We care about children. More specifically, we care deeply for the children of Cambodia. International Orphan Aid reaches into many orphanages, not only in Phnom Penh, but also out into the surrounding provinces. Regardless of the circumstances that brought these children into the orphanages, their life is very difficult, very barren, very bleak. International Orphan Aid does what it can to enrich and improve the lives of children in need.
Needed Services
Often an orphanage has a need that is much more specific. The following are a sampling of needs that International Orphan Aid has been fortunate enough to meet.
- Garden planting
- Washing machines
- Sewing machines
- Water well drilled
- Fish pond stocked
- Water filtration
- Playground equipment
- Painting
- Beds
- Toys
- Reading books
- Clothing
- Shoes
Nutritional Support
Each visit by one of our team members includes a distribution of food directly to the children. Typically this is a vitamin-enriched Soy Milk and fruit. Much needed supplies are left for use throughout the month. The amount delivered is limited only by the availability of funds. This direct distribution of supplies enables the team members to identify children who may be ill or in need of additional intervention.
Medical & Dental Care
Through International Orphan Aid both orphans and children of widows can obtain medical and dental attention otherwise not available to them. Whenever possible medical care is procured in Cambodia. However, if necessary we will attempt to obtain services outside the country on a case by case basis.
Educational Support
Through International Orphan Aid sponsors, children receive that extra boost they need to work to the best of their ability in the Cambodian school system. Sponsors provide for school fees, school uniforms and basic school supplies. If necessary, a bicycle can be provided for transportation to and from school. During our monthly visits, we constantly strive to open a window to a big Big world for the children. It is our hope and desire to let them know that people from around the world care about them. They are loved.
