Our History
In 2001 Mark and Rhonda Benz began working through the process of a Cambodian adoption of two orphaned children. During this time they became close friends with other adoptive parents of Cambodian children including Ben and Christina Chronister. Together the two couples founded Help-AOA
to help the children living at the Asian Orphans Association orphanage. Living in America and conducting humanitarian aid in South East Asia was difficult to say the least and in 2003 Mark and Rhonda Benz made the decision to relocate their family to Cambodia. Using the name High Tower Ministries they established and registered a non-governmental organization in Cambodia. By the end of the first year a second memorandum of understanding was negotiated with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Bykota House was established. In 2006 the organization was later expanded to include additional orphanages in Cambodia and the name was changed to Cambodian Orphan Aid to express our intentions to include all orphans in Cambodia regardless of where they might be living. Most recently we have incorporated in the United States as International Orphan Aid, a charitable organization and IRS 501 (c)(3).
