Sponsor a child.
The majority of children reached through Cambodian Orphan Aid are located in rural orphanages located outside the capital city of Phnom Penh. Our sponsorship program is designed around the specific and urgent needs of the children.
We assist through nutritional support because most of the children suffer from malnutrition and vitamin deficiencies. We assist with medical care and dental projects because these services are not provided by the state. Cambodia is a country suffering from an HIV/AIDS crisis. Already suffering heavy losses from Tuberculosis, Typhoid, Dengue Fever, Hepatitis and Malaria, USAID estimates 16,000 deaths annually to HIV/AIDS. Resulting in 6,000 additional orphans each year.
We assist with needed service projects because the needs are so great and varied from one orphanage to another that we must be constantly vigilant and willing to do whatever we can. Is pure water the greatest need? Is there space and a desire to garden? We will help where and how we are able.
We assist with education because the entire country's educational system is in crisis. Teacher's salaries are so low they must require "fees"from the students. Children living in orphanages or on the street are often not able to attend classes because they lack the "fees", transportation (bicycle), books, uniforms or supplies.
We provide friendship and attention because above all these precious ones need a kind word or a gentle hug. They need to know they are not alone. Someone cares about them and is there for them.
Cambodian Orphan Aid's local offices are located in Phnom Penh, the capital city. Here our staff is able to network with other organizations and NGO's to locate what resources may be available to assist.
Our goal is to use any and all resources we can find and thus, stretch every dollar donated to COA to it's fullest.
